KA Rees #61 - Anatomy of a raindrop

Anatomy of a raindrop

Half light has fallen into dust
like half of a broken haiku, what
use hawk eyes, dust and fire and fine
ash mix, there is a meeting of
air masses, like a revolt
of shareholders taking a chunk
out of executive bonuses. Light forks
dance, molecules of rain fall
but don’t drop—they’re shaped
like the top of a burger bun—they coalesce,
bond together. Shake down the sky.

  1. a sky shake-down
    at the haiku repair shop
    was sadly broken up
    by a broken down
    old cop
