Fei Nicholafei Chen #2

Hypothetical 2

suppose we never had the idea of
putting clothes on our bodies

not the first ones to cook meat
nor the Mesopotamians
no one in the Han Dynasty
none in the Mayan Empire
nor Columbus new world friends
not the gods or goddesses
nor theatre actors
not even neighbours

what if nobody had thought to use animal skins
to warm themselves against the cold

what if our auras had never been photoshopped this way
the sweat stains would be obvious
fairness would have nowhere to hide

we would have created words to replace
honesty and hypocrisies

instead of saying
you look very smart today
would we ask:

'your fur is so tidy, so well-brushed'

  4. When the Spanish arrived in Tierra del Fuego they were surprised to find that despite the cold, the people were naked, except for paint and feathers on some days. Of course, they forced them to wear clothes. A great question that we need to keep asking.

    1. hi Susan, thanks for sharing this bit of knowledge~ which inspired me to wonder further: isn't it interesting? Now most of humans have cloths to put on, and we start putting coats and shoes on pets.
