Susan Hawthorne #358 fragility


our planet is the subject of this poem
tiny sun birds sit on the wire of our deck
cassowary leave scats and I disturb
a bird breakfasting on the fresh seeds
each depends on the other for the next
step except for the human which
rarely contributes anything of use
to do so we must die and recycle
our very selves to the topsoil
