This moment in time
I never want back
another day throws itself at me
slaps me, harder
picks away at the scar tissue
empties out a household that fell
apart rolls blue tack off Michael Jordan shooting
another hoop against the boy's blue between wall
limbs bruised organs
lost hearts
the outline of a shiny boot in a wardrobe door
random tablets on the carpet in the bedrooms screwed up
tissues where bedheads and bedside tables slept
Ed dismantles them all with a Philips head the boy
with no teeth wraps them in grey blankets carries
them out to the truck have you ever seen
the rain coming down
II
110 k's driving down the Princes Highway
I want to go to the Steakhouse
and order
blue meat
raw bloodied
and order
Fat Yak on tap
another and another and
this moment in time
the storm before the calm
take it - it's all yours
Raw and wonderful as ever Kristen!

ReplyDeleteScarifying.
DeleteYes Rob - scarifying captures the atmosphere of the moment in time the poet wants to discard to somebody, anybody !
