Rob Schackne #443 - "Alas, this is not treasure"
Alas, this is not treasure
archeologists will only say
what rubbish, how it ended up
in the middle of the Pacific
what manner of people were they
nothing benign is cast away
whether poem or plastic bag
food refused, ideas discarded
yesterday or the day before
the future they didn't want
why is this a sermon, won't
you say it's more rubbish
the ocean has its own problems
it ebbs and flows without us
it gazes sweetly at the moon?
