Lucy Alexander #55 Shingleback

Dragon story merged
come real
not flame
a tongue of night
eyes rip into light
under each scale
a bone
under each bone
bitter blood
slides exoskeleton
across the stones singing:
eat me and you will die
my head will wedge your throat
my tail cram your dreams
full of hollowness
I will burrow
into your blood
and crowd out the
red with my own
black furrows
then you will know
the fury of my reptile self;

just be patient while I sleep.
