the rain

once more

always just in the nick

before the tanks run out

before the garden curls up heels

before the dams are dust

so lovely indiscriminate

I love to stand and let it fall

as if there were a choice

and there is!

best where the sky

comes sudden to water

then there is

no land-ing

I can be in or out

or I swim through

meniscus minded

eye level with

the boiling pond

I see the rain stand up!

and the sun comes out for it

shows all the bright parade 

                                             come down in the last shower
