how are you really
feeling today?
(poem composed of rearranged
tweets from the Canberra You Are Here arts festival event Civic Interstrange,
an intervention staged by the Affective Labourers Union: bus commuters were
asked 'How are you really feeling today ?' and the answers were tweeted from
@ALUCBR earlier this morning )
today I am not going to blink
9.33 vibrates
on my way
i breathe
stretched
stillness and warmth
i am here
semi-retired
i can outrun the emptiness
very
nervous because I have a lot
unravelling
a miracle
like a trombone trapped in the body of a man
all I want is boundless love
I've tried stealing his wine
If I sneezed I'd shit myself
kind of down
my mind above
the clouds of those words
clouds aren't sadness
a little sleepy but
i won't
deny complicity
stress will someday delete humanity
sadness is real
I'm sorry but I'm moving
I'm scared of all of you
good
if I work hard enough
enjoying the beautiful
at least I know nothing means anything ! That's a relief.
(a part of it)
TENDER AND UGLY
the prospect of getting
better when I have a coffee
unsure if I want to die
every last warm day counts
I am empty
& Positive
today, but hungover
sunshine isn't happiness
follow this
ALONE AND WORTHLESS AND I HAVE MY PERIOD
soarest (sic) back
a family death...a warm autumn...
crying on the bus well trying not to cry
people looking at me, what if they think
happiness is real

wow! how wonderfully affecting, Melinda. Beautifully structured, too.
ReplyDeletepoor in a bourgeois town — after Leadbelly's The Bourgeois Blues:
ReplyDelete'Home of the brave, land of the free
I don't wanna be mistreated by no bourgeoisie
Lord, in a bourgeois town
Uh, the bourgeois town
I got the bourgeois blues
Gonna spread the news all around'
