Anna Couani #99 walls of glass (thanks to LM & MM for words)

as we came to know
studying architecture
there’s a problem
with glittering walls of glass
they’re not eco-friendly
with all the air conditioning
required

at least some of them
have amazing workspaces
the experimental ones
where they’ve dispensed with chairs
and unpleasant fluoro lighting
and carpet

and another problem
is that they look great
the reflections are amazing
especially bouncing
reflections off reflections
on water
they keep the night bright
mirror the stars

from a plane
like masses of fireflies

although
thinking about architecture
about architects
who use words like ‘shelter’
going back to basic ideas
simplicity
it’s nothing like the complex
skyscrapers towering above us
and the complexity of their
construction
snaking through the cities

  1. I like the way this brings together so many puzzles and contrasts and doesn't feel the need to resolve them. And also the way the last line brings us back to a feeling of movement, reflected back in the shimmery water.
