our possum can be heard

but not often seen

one time

when it ran away

with the banana

we put out each night

ran to the neighbour’s roof

we could see it with a torch

and we compared

the banana to its size

the banana was big

and the possum is small

another time nibbling the mimosa

also at night

and wondered where

it lives in daylight hours

unseen even with its

big bushy tail

indifferent to us

can’t even say we meet

turns and goes

is of roof

of branch of eave

nearby by at a distance
