Red Cone (LF)#140-Thursday diary
Thursday diary at the British Library with Shakespeare
sickly I feel
but only in body
not in spirit
why is the flesh weak
when it should be strong
what is wrong
an espresso may help
sparkling water too
fresh air is a godsend
and Shakespeare too
so for lunch today
it is tomato soup for me
sourdough for you
plus shopping at M & S
pillow cases for her
and Boots for a mask
on the plane to wear
meanwhile people around me
look very familar
but I don't know why
is it this life or another
and the sky is covered
in grey clouds again
and a longing is here
for yellow to green fields
of blue grey gums
so subtle in colour
and air that is fresh
for breath that is best
so I continue with my rant and rave
while I wait for him
for whom he gave
four centuries to be read
and gasped at in wonder
for many of us to adore
and to plunder
and these words I feel
make me feel better
for today is my last whole day
in this city of wonders
of friends I've found
or known and am fond of
for tomorrow I am airborne
and through the air I fly
back to scents familiar
and colours I know
and a clear blue sky
