Susan Hawthorne #137 poetic structure and the world

the world is a poem
as epic it is passed down
through many generations
flourished in metrical formulae
metaphors becoming ever
more complex owl-eyed
Athena who needs more?

as lyric it sings its way
into the heart
desire flings itself about
and the names of flowers
blossom and procreate
butterflies proliferate
deathless love reigns
