the
truth (yet again)
the truth long lost
and it shines
like a dew spangled flag
dawn sets alight
I salute it
and sing it
stand like the rest for it
and I bow
sometimes I believe
it is the truth deceived us
so simple a thing
we must have imagined
then must I not set
such doubts aside?
truth is I am here to tell
as others told before
old initials
are carved in a wall
the moss grows over
and lichen tells too
the truth we scratch at
dig down for
I'm a fool for it
like fate
I salute it
and sing it
stand like the rest
and I bow low
before and after
all God's mind fact
there must be a garden
of this truth to tell
they say the future
will bear all out
horizon I see
is forgetting though
and is the soul (?)
I ask again
whom we needs must invent
knowing what one doesn't know
the outside all that lights the way
the lightning strikes
for revelation, for all time
sometimes I believe
the truth's a lost longing
dawn sets alight
and it shines like
a dew spangled flag
I salute it and sing it
and bow like the rest
as any old animal does

Read this several times. Very fine poem, Kit.

I recognize what I see as "the core" of "you-yourself" in these lines Kit!!
