blue faced honeyeater
(to accompany Dael Allison's painting of the
same name)
thicket in
to beak about
green as a tree
let sway
we share
the flowering
let sky catch
light for visage
let pollen patch
if song's required
the chord
strings leaf and branch
the path
is outward, sideways, up
hang in the tune
together sated
stay as day lasts
green as a tree let sway
the painter's thick with gravity
it's barely known to them
both beautiful
ReplyDeleteI really want to see this completed, Kit! It starts so strongly, the first half, now a tighter second half...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous poem to accompany a gorgeous picture. I saw a lot of these up in Townsville when I was there a few years ago. Beautiful and precocious.
