Lucy Alexander poems #9 Birthday

She was, last time I checked,
so young that the air threw its arms around her
and light did that glow in her hair

when I looked up and saw her there on the branch
I knew she would always be that bit ahead
and wiser, but also that when I loved her

she would smile like a leaf.

  1. Really beautiful, Lucy, and thought-provoking for me, with my first reaching his number one milestone recently.
