Rob Schackne #74 - "A robot convention"

“A robot convention”

A robot convention. Doesn’t matter
They pick a mango. Pick their nose
(You know I go as far as I can)
Come in, he says. A person leaves
Everyone so hungry. My idiom for idiots
It’s illegal to operate them without permission
I hold the door open for a poem. That’s all

Just float through a window in the roof
Just maybe you hear one hand clapping
Maybe you can see your original face. But
How different the sky is when you don’t look up.

    1. I'll be frank, Rob, I don't get the poem at all really…

    2. Though wait a moment, are you referring to the 'robot conventions' they have on places like Japan, with 'cute' humanoid robots?

    3. No worries, Robbie. You're not alone! Robot poetics. What mechanism what that look like, I wonder? At a robot convention? Sure. Or outside in the street? If any of that's a way to let the poem in...if it's a poem at all. The 2 famous Zen koans that it ends with won't help a linear/logical understanding of this. Some leave. But some stay.

  2. I love the timing of holding the door open for a poem.... and jolt of not looting up. Nice one Rob.

  4. I agree with kit, great last line! And I enjoy the "trespassing spirit" in this poem!
