Susan Hawthorne #257 radical circa 1970s

we met at the height of student struggles
called ourselves radical
and here we still are
writing manifestos on butcher's paper

you've barely changed in forty years
the same exuberance
tinged by sadness
both just as radical as ever we were

there in the fifth row another and another
all these faces and memories
from student conferences
tv interviews marches and demonstrations

we were all there
we are all here

  1. A good poem full of memory from where I come from, Chile's 1973 a radical struggle.
'writing manifestos on butcher's paper' strong and beautiful line.
