In the perfect game of snakes and ladders

Everyone throws a six 

every time

And everyone piggybacks together 

down those snakes,

And everyone helps each other 

up those ladders,

All arriving at ‘Finish’ 

at exactly the same moment—

Except, that shared moment’s impossible to arrive at

In a world of taking turns.

So it’s best

to lose interest

or plead vertigo

part way through

and wander away

to that quiet,

endless game

of Bingo

in the corner.
