At night, trying to sleep,
time expands,
and my tinnitus is amplified
into the sound
of an accelerating universe,
where some eclipses last longer than 69 years,
and newly discovered planets orbit our sun
every 10,000 years,
or so.
In this ringing white noise,
planets are cannibalising their twins,
while black holes spin around their doubles
in the heart of galaxies,
twirling in a dance of death, time space,
the ballroom champs,
show off their sequins and feathers,
frou frou and glitterballs,
their fancy footwork the envy
of theories of the cosmos,
to the tune of entropy,
in syncopation with my tinnitus,
the oblivious duo
are merely warming up,
for heat death.
like this one a lot (tinnitus sounds awful)
ReplyDeleteOh dear! Ditto to Robbie's comment.
ReplyDeleteThanks! No worries about the tinnitus! Had it since 6 years of age and in trying to make sense of it at that age, I imagined I was hearing the whole world talking and going about its business while our side of the world was quiet and sleeping.Consequently, I grew up sanguine about it, even at its worst. :))
