#183 Kevin Brophy 'Emma Gorge'

#183 ‘Emma Gorge’

When you dive into water

if it is deep and clear enough
and cold enough

if a long waterfall speckles
the shining green surface

if rocks rise sheer enough
and cracked enough for vines to hold

if from draggling tree-root ropes
more high water falls into its mirror

if conversations sound like litanies
unfolding beneath cathedral pillars

then you will be diving into your
surprising self

with your eyes closed and your arms out.
