in Vermont
Reincarnation it’s not just for the dead
I’ve tried on a life or two
trees, they get
away with it
Americans take long drives to watch
not here, that’s not on here we stay the
same
dressed as the fireman
the astronaut the birdwatcher until 60
whatever we got cash for
that’s virtue
but the leaves they miss each other
until the Spring comes
bare branches in the wind
the meanwhiles - the time shear
some kind of humming
to carry on the tune.
