If you put your grief away until later
wrapped in soft muslin
or casked in oak
you might find it
when the time comes
diminished
shrunk away
from the sides with dehydration
sedimented out and sunken
or sifted into dust
but not less potent for all that
when you put your grief away until later
later always comes
very lovely poem

ReplyDeleteGood one Mikaela, you are remarkably consistently nailing your poems. This one has its place for the genuine.
