Rob Harle Pen and Phone #18

Rob Harle #18 Pen and Phone

Poetry drafts written in longhand
exquisite blue ink flows freely,
effortlessly from my fountain pen,
a gift some forty five years ago.

A friend’s mobile phone already doomed
the battery sealed in,
like a body in a sarcophagus.

Trash the phone when battery dies!
Whoops – “recycle thoughtfully!”
the shameful dying battery,
two years perhaps?
Whoops – perhaps “design more thoughtfully?”
