Sarah St Vincent Welch #204 in the aisles



is there a poem in Aisle Four?
wonky wheel trolley swerves

might be

Toilet Rolls tower
white and proper, wobble

Personal Wash of Aisle Five
feels a bit personal

still looking

Six is Cake Mix
whir mixmaster clack bowl
shudder butter
spit dollop plop  
sugar dust puff
cough
lick beater 
metal ridge

drop a penny in the pudding
fold it in
wooden spoon
handle crack 

Aisle Seven is Sauce and Marinade
lick fingers, add chilli spice
tenderize

Eight, Mixer Drinks/Cordial
cranberry red and vodka ice
GI green 

Nine is Biscuits
broken and stale
drag teeth along
icing tops, 
dunk 
slop
desiccate

gobble 

pay

  3. I wanted to add Grissini in Aisle 4. I have never paid much attention to the aisles until recently. I love the idea of turning everything into poetry even the supermarkets which have to be one of the least poetic places but you've made me look again.

  4. Grissini is nice! Yes the style of supermarket I was in I try and avoid generally so my soul isn't sucked, but I approached it with the added agenda of poem hunting. There was a tickle of inspiration in the naming of the aisles, but it wasn't shouting to me like some signage does. But I started to find something, and was hovering with mobile camera and taking notes. (My partner did the shopping.)
