#185 Kevin Brophy 'Ord River'

#185 ‘Ord River’
The river never stops polishing its talk.
The sky delivers armfuls of cloudy philosophy.
Gorges break themselves apart
rolling boulders down
to see how far the world might take them.
Trees teeter on the banks
their many arms grotesque in surrender.
Darter birds display their needle beaks.
An Osprey rips fresh fish apart on a tree limb.
While the Jesus bird does its trick on lilies
at the water’s edge, an eagle sleeps
itself into the shape of an eagle
high above me as I point my camera
my soul my smallness my absence at it.

  2. This is the third reference I've read to the Jesus bird this week. I thought I was the only one to use this name!! Lucky you being surrounded by that stunning landscape.
