#194 ‘Fullness’
Who prepares you for this
Who told you how to tap
Your child in just this way
As he passes
So that he knows everything
You feel
And all you would do for him
Who prepares you for this
And what stone was it
You picked up out of a desert
To find under it
The instructions
That told you how to listen
To your child’s tears
Without stopping them up
And just by this finding
That they have stopped
In their fullness
Ah, mate, that is a good father's poem. How did we do that?
ReplyDeleteSometimes after your poems I just exhale my held breath.
