Kit Kelen #246 - staging my disappearance

246
staging my disappearance

not that I don't enjoy being here
but I like not being here too
a kind of tug-o-war
I'm always imagining it

simple as putting on lipstick
now you're someone else
now the other-one-you-were is gone

like putting a new hat on
or like the slippers with the holes
where the toes escaped
and where are those toes now?

this is not something I planned before

'from where to where' the cops will ask

you'll say it implies being somewhere-in-the-else
true up to a point
superannuated
demise staring down

but not in the end
though that's highly subjective

like the penis of the famous fairytale
soft to the touch no matter how hard

after all we're all still here

we are the mortal remains
