with chicks in the nest until after Christmas

though necessarily pagan and a little fishy

They lay their eggs in nests constructed

of sticks and seaweed and ropes and bones

baby them on ropes and bones until Christmas

though they probably don't believe

and when they leave its not because

of that thing

that happens to families at Christmas

of seaweed and sticks
