Sarah St Vincent Welch #254 Bridal veil falls

wet rock cascade
river falling

I lift your English name
Bridal Veil Falls

for a second
it seems apt, glancing

now
    foreign
              faltering

I saw the whisp
the gauze
felt its brush

then caught the rise of tourists’ calls
out of the valley

watch how water wears rock

  1. Yes, the long long wisp, like a whisper!

  2. oh, this is just wonderful, Sarah. That last line with its play on 'wears' just pulls everything back into the inescapable natural world of erosion while simultaneously arresting the poetic moment. Brilliant.
