Hospital # 80 Claine Keily

She tired easily
of the pastries
orange coloured
floating  in syrup

She wanted back
the life that she found beautiful
far from the videos
that lined the bookshelf
and the freezer packed
with biscuits

No more the quick
pulling on of shirts
before moving into
the scent of the new fallen mangoes
in the garden
instead ice packs held against her
as she closes her eyes and remembers
how once she had danced
with knoll rimmed eyes
with no wise cracking
anaesthetist beside her
telling her to embark on
this little death
as one would a holiday
and where there had been only
the beauty of the forest
to stop her heart

  1. This is so good, Claine. So sad and beautiful. Hope you're feeling better.

    1. Thanks Rob I am feeling better and can even type with the fingers in my wounded arm. It is amazing how the lower arm can still function despite the fact my upper arm was ripped out of my shoulder socket! Home tomorrow and then back to work the next day xx

  2. That - is stunningly beautiful, as a tingle in a healing injury, knowing it's coming back. Love it.
