Anna Couani #73 new moon for red cone

we noticed the new moon

unusually setting and enlarged

in the west

but the phone camera blurred it

into a fuzzy blob

then cloud covered it for the rest of our walk

there were lots of people down at the waterfront

trying to catch the harbour breeze

to escape the record breaking humidity

saying, “couldn’t be as bad as the tropics though”

and the bridge looked very special

hovering in the blackness

because it was darker than usual

with virtually no moon

and the sodium lights burned

four yellow tracks across the bay

later I thought the massive concrete members

looked like boxed metal sections

and remembered the amazing chromed staircase

in the new Frank Gehry building

the only real similarity being

the idea of metal
