Kit Kelen #64 - world weary

64
world weary

sad to be back home after the party
to be where I and time were squandered

but it isn't home
it was, will be

it's where I did my best
as I was told
as otherwise
I went tip-toe

sad having to go
sad, strange having been here so long
sad, strange to be going away

jetlag won't garner sympathy
I'm not a refugee

I'm sad that each place
isn't another
sadder though
when it just about is

saddest in airports
on ferries, in malls
in great vaulted banks
where not even the soul
earns interest today

sad in the skin
when sleep never comes

the future's a fidget
can you count it out?
(count ukuleles, but never enough)

resort to a pill at the last
shackles fall
and you're down with them

always best to stop in one's socks
at home in the work where I am

  1. Very moving Kit and the image goes especially well with it. I especially responded to 'I'm sad that each place
isn't another' it expressed something familiar that I haven't been able to put into words.
