diptych
for the trees
unto
our gentle senses
call this wood Birnam
at least for today
it comes to me
from a practised absence
and castle hath a pleasant seat
though I can't see it anymore
I thank the trees for that
and
in among
I love the patches
of nothing to cut
where the trees have kept a proper distance
where the grass has given up
where the leaves lie thick as ghosts
