Brian Purcell # 15 Washing The Dishes

    Washing The Dishes

Sometimes I wonder how I can live without you
washing the dishes, half a country away
I see you shake your head, roused
to wakefulness, smiling
at a word – or tilting your chin
to sigh exasperated
at something I said, puzzled –
trying to understand
how it can be more vivid than this moment
the wet cutlery in my hand
and I pause, wondering why
I’m thinking of you
leaning against the sink
thinking of you

  4. Hi Efi and Melinda, yes these are all paintings from the last few months and have not been seen anywhere else. I'm trying to match paintings with poems - sometimes its easy, sometimes hard! Cheers Brian
