hear them falling

roof to roof

wrestle fit

to wake the night

they're monsters of the Id-

as-dreamt

could be cats or infants

(just for a moment though)

it's the warning growl

betrays them

is this for territory or fun?

for food? for love!

is love not this

just one morsel

done with the compass

hiss and cough and …

swim in starlight

make a lovely hat

but it's the kooka

scares up dawn

when possum's

fast asleep

and dreaming
