Chrysogonus #34 - Macao Sky

Macao sky

the sky was empty
stars had all gone
only faint echoes remained
of a lullaby from a distant past

a thousand lamps burning
from dark satanic mills below
and the heavens above
were a blanket of smog

only the pale moon
hung on alone
waiting for its time to go

after the last lamp had died

  1. This is interesting. I'm left wanting to read about more darkness and blackness. The dark satanic mills conjure up those factories in England and they're basically old ones, even 19th C. The Chinese version is a bit of a blank for me and I wonder what to conjure, what does that landscape look like?

  2. I'm trying to compare the casinos with the dark satanic mills :)
