Lucy Alexander #23 Detritus

There will be time for this
just one more ride
down the detritus of the day
smiling like a lunatic
about to fall
asleep and the blue
of his skin and the
paddle of the wheel
the possibilities of endless skating
a world where water is as thin as air
and just as dampening to the soul.

There will be enough
acid in the water so
the whale will escape
on all four wheels
and become incandescent
enlightened in ordinary
interplanetary bone mapping.

Smiling like a lunatic
circumnavigating that rock,
about to fall
extinct
endless skating
the pack ice asleep
in the blue of his skin
where water is thicker than blood
and several degrees below it.

  2. Fantastic - I'm getting the old one out of the absent children cupboard. Wonderful imagery.
