Change of life
Oh Copernicus
I'm going round the sun now
time has taken me
and all the faiths can't anchor my feet
or reset the heavenly cycles spinning
around my centre as they used
I have reached my age
confusion runs
through the blackout of my body
flicking all the switches
fruitlessly
adrenaline fires its dangerous fume
like wasteful fuel
and it's fisticuffs or flee
The fight I understand
it comes out clenched
but why are we running
flight fight fright
the sleepless jitters
the roaring furnace
The rings which once ran round us
fling us to the outer
orbiting in slow disintegration
hot as shame
anxious as hell
barren as a rocky near invisible meteor
of no consequence
with some burning on re-entry
