Sarah St Vincent Welch #239 Smoke

dew and mist and fire
sunrise birdcall

walking into childhood's morning

scent of gum leaf smoke in my hair
in my coat

I rub my lips against the sleeve and breathe

I carry this all day

the cleansing

gifts of meeting
being quiet together

listening

  1. I like the allusion to the smoking ceremony, nice

  2. I was at one. I am glad you got the allusion, Anna. It was so wonderful to be there - launching a reconciliation plan for Transport Canberra and City Service's in Corroboree Park, locally.

  3. Very evocative. I got a little more each time with successive readings.
