nightbirds dripping sound
crickets nipping silence
a cricket died yesterday
it had a broken leg
you tried to save it
but to no avail
eaten by a gecko
death so ever present
tonight you tell me
she didn't die listen
chirrup chirrup
crickets nipping silence
a cricket died yesterday
it had a broken leg
you tried to save it
but to no avail
eaten by a gecko
death so ever present
tonight you tell me
she didn't die listen
chirrup chirrup
perfect ending!
ReplyDeleteThe cricket came back just now broken leg and all, she lande on my leg. So to the rescue, outdoors in the garden. I hope she survives.
ReplyDeleteI like the way it works on more than one level. Good intertwining...
ReplyDeleteRelieved to hear it! I accidentally amputated a huntsman's leg in removing it from the house. It survived for a very, very long time - we'd see it regularly, and of course we always knew who was visiting us, which was a strange and intimate comfort..
