Can you write if you grapple
with nothing? You’re happy
with sex because you can
get yourself there
better and faster than another
could. Got tension?
Not got tension. Not got words.
Gimme, gimme.
Point.
I can point for myself.
I can get for myself.
Perhaps therapy would do it.
Should anyone wish they were ripe for therapy?
How tiresome to have to explain yourself.
In the hope of a new romance.
I’ll keep to my mousy self.
For the moment.
For the moment.
Hi Julie, a very nice view of AS. "O the tiresomeness!" I also love her poetry, but I sometimes feel like someone should have been bumping the record player.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rob. I've just discovered a recording of her reading to music. And I like the films of her reading for the camera at home.
Deletethis is really good, Julie!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Efi.
DeleteThis blew me away, Julie, so good. Went and read some Anne Sexton too. (Gee she published a lot.)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah. Yes, she's a study! She and Sylvia Plath had attended a Robert Lowell workshop together. Can you imagine it?!
