Kit Kelen #190 - my home is a living thing

190
my home is a living thing

creaks and its rattles
no assistance required

squeaks underfoot
with the wind all sighs

some days drips with sweat
just standing

or dew soaked dawn will welcome light
with how the house must gleam, must shine

house shivers its winter timbers
and hear sun stretch in the tin up top

the ants will tickle
and sometimes take down

every house a creature grown
to where it will go no further

though many put on spring foliage past that
wings or summer awnings

such frail solidities
if timber yearning to be one among trees

brick stone and steel
would melt to earth

time always
tends that way
