Kit Kelen #191 - Bunyah lunch

191
Bunyah lunch

we cover quite a topic range
outdoors, the rain runs through its paces
jeans mud dusted, shoes well scraped

I use every word of Hungarian I have
there are many other languages
I expound my theory of friendly and unfriendly languages

Les tells me that the school bus was invented
to stop kids pinching from delivered boxes of wine
he says I can quote him on that

he speaks of civilisation at Markwell
I am anointed of the River Myall
tribute must be book

Valerie's loathing of Trump is patent
but Les is mischievous with it
just as you'd expect

the driveway puddle's his rain gauge
we're the only sunshine today
a conjuring all words

a wet drive back to Markwell in mist
let there be a forest between us
(sad, so many wreckers of forest in there)

the weather's always something else
when you get back home

  1. Now there's both a poem and some very cheeky poets.

  2. So cool. I've spent many years reading Les's poetry...a big favourite...and 25 years ago I even wrote an Hons. thesis on the Australian pastoral which had a chapter on his poetry.
