Some sweep menageries
into garbage bags
tear down
weep blood like Jesus
return to empty houses
in readiness to watch
the news
They smoke cigarettes
as they pace
between the kitchen
and the bedroom
and never let in
the girl in the
perfumed slippers
who laughs and plays Bach
while drinking gin
Instead they sleep alone
and awake staring up
waiting for the ceiling
to give in
ReplyDeleteMe for the girl
in perfumed slippers
under the ceiling
where she makes love
Indeed Rob!
ReplyDeleteThose slippers/are left under the pillow/reminding of how/some things go beyond ceilings. Lovleyxxx
