Nathanael O'Reilly #9 Transnational Panorama

Transnational Panorama

running on the Cotswolds Way
I splash through ankle-deep mud
uphill along the public footpath
between stone walls, hedges
barbed wire and electric fences
shimmy through kissing gates
between fields and forests
slip on piles of autumn leaves
fight inclines, wind and rocks
on my way to the highest point
look down over Bath, Weston
Kelston, Swineford and Saltford
across luminous green fields
brown hedgerows and copses
the Avon and the Severn
all the way to Wales

  1. This transports me back - a perfect description. I was always struck by how big the skies are in England - something I didn't expect at all. You've caught that in your photo.

  2. Thanks, Efi. Yes, the skies can be big and blue ... when they are not grey, low and oppressive!
