Stuart Rawlinson #20 - The Flood

What do you remember?
I remember water
Steps leading down
To a flooded floor, like
Steps that lead down
To the jetty from the wharf
But no boat, yacht or raft
Was there. Just a few planks and toys
Scraping between steps
Pleading for rescue; to be
Dragged to dry land.
As I watch this loop
Repeated but re-shot with
Every recollection
Ripples lapped over
Tiny red wellies, and I reckon
             (though I can’t be sure)
That I didn’t much care for
             Wet feet in March.
