Anna Couani #192 springtime (after Chrysogonus #12)

spring cleaning bug bites
and uproots the bed sheets
everything needs cleaning
winter dust has settled
in a greasy patina
it’s got to go
dish up a mushroom omelette
and off to market
to work to shop
to find daffodils
wash the scarves

now spring sunlight filters through the venetians
outside the mimosa is in bud
the bougainvillea is sprouting again

under the monitor
the papers books and paperweights
so sunny and still
and your curls are turning silver

  1. Beautiful, Anna!

I like the last line the most, a beautiful conclusion.

  2. Thanks, I was thinking of the last lines of your poem too Chrysogonus!
