Rob Schackne #47 - From An Old Notebook

From An Old Notebook

In mortal situations
non-directed talking
might well save his ass
when everything is taken

With no songs
you couldn’t put
your shoes on broken
or your animal mask

Fall was born and died in Fall
my dog always watched me
I watched our tail

Bury the red body
over there in that gap
between the white fence
and the blue jungle

You can pay me later
with a dark poem that
will light up the world

This rainy day reads and writes

The subway EXIT is a holy name

  2. 'might could' threw me, but the rest is good, especially the lines

    'You can pay me later
    with a dark poem that
    will light up the world'

  3. Sorry it threw you, Robbie...southern US vernacular is in my genes.
