Rob Schackne #58 - Adventures Of An Incognito

Adventures Of An Incognito

                                                 for Andrew Duguid

Presty-digitator, smoker and shaman
carter, butcherman, stockman, showie
of both poetry and slide, the sun is setting
and a big flock of birds wheels by

Never was a man so incognito, he says

With a schooner and a dry dover
he parks his arse in the public bar, begins
his tales of in-between, the outback
minmin lights and a Visitor he met

Never was a man so incognito, he repeats

Now the night has fallen low, bar flies
come from the shadows, from outside
they'll shout him many drinks
(just let it go, it’s a Friday)

He's almost lost for words.

  1. great mimicry... I especially like 'a Visitor he met', that sense of breaking the isolation.... it's Friday
