| two sculptures by Hilik Mirankar |
I was sitting thinking
as usual
unsure what to think about
or unsure what I was thinking about
what is that mystery
that constantly troubles me
that thing that constantly eludes me
what is that thing in the back of my mind
and why can’t I just reach in and grab it
articulate it
then the small sculpture caught my attention
the chunky dark wooden thing
wholly abstract
not even suggestive of something real
sitting there for years
and suddenly
in its amazing opacity
its robust density
it became obvious that it
described the thought
became a kind of answer
to the question I can’t formulate
to the question I can’t formulate

Your thinking about thinking stays with me Anna and I can feel and smell the wood
ReplyDeleteactualising the abstract, articulating the (almost) impossible - love it!
ReplyDeletegreat exposition
